Winter Events ( December ~ March)

Enjoy many winter events in Fujikwaguchiko Town, including winter illuminations, weekend fireworks, ice and snow festivals, hot springs and much more. New this year is the GAI-RO-JU tree illuminations, and the "AKB8" hotou noodle food stall festival.

AKB 8 "Hotou Noodle Fair" (Febuary 4th and 5th)

Warm up with the two day "Hotou Noodle Fair" featuring 8 winners of the Hotou Noodle contest. The select 8 will be selling their varation of the local delicacy "Hotou Noodle." Enjoy the different taste of the famous hot noodle stew along with other drink and treat stands. Fun for everyone!
The winter fireworks display will follow from 8pm at the same location!

Fujikawaguchiko Winter Art Festival (Until March 31st)

The Fujikawaguchiko winter art festival. Representing various art forms to express the 3 genres of art, film and culture. Coinciding with the Fujikawaguchiko Movie Festival and winter concert series. Enjoy film, music, arts and crafts and local cultures.

"Niagara" Winter Illumination" (12/1 ~ 1/31/ 2011)

A one of a kind winter illumination.
Enjoy the 3 meter high, 280 meter long string of winter illumination lights, which viewed in the crisp winter night, flows like the falls of Niagara. A beautiful free site, with Kawaguchiko Lake and Mt.Fuji in the backround!

The 14th Annual Winter Fireworks (1/14 ~ 2/19, 2011; Saturdays and Sundays; and 2/23)

“Kawaguchiko Winter Fireworks”- the fireworks in Kawaguchiko are a spectacular and famous event.

What more beautiful setting could there be for a fireworks display - with the beautiful illumination of over 1,500 fireworks bursting in the clear winter night, and reflected in the glass surface of Lake Kawaguchi!!

And why not treat yourself to a warming hot-spring after having enjoyed the lovely fireworks.

Lake Saiko Winter Festival (1/28 ~ 2/5, 2011)

The Mori Park at Saiko Wild Bird Sancturary transforms itself into a winter playground. Ice sculptures of "silver frost" on the trees can reach 10m and is breathtaking in the winter setting.

At night the natural works of art are lit up for a wonderful and romantic winter atmosphere.

Mt. Fuji / Kawaguchiko movie festival( 2011 / 2 / 19,20)

In correspondence to Mt.Fuji day on February 23rd,the annual Mt.Fuji / Kawaguchiko film festival will be held. Screening of the winning screenplay based on the theme of the Mt.Fuji area, and other select films.

Kawaguchiko "Fujizakura" Cherry blossom & Azalea Festival (4 / 24 ~ 5 / 1 )

The "Fujizakura" cherry blossoms and azalea accentuate the beauty of Mt.Fuji. It's beauty has been penned by many a famous writer, such as Osamu Daizai.

Fuji cherry blossoms are particular to only the Mt. Fuji area. You can usually view them from late April to early May. It's brilliant pink scattered amongst the red pines and wild trees of the Mt. Fuji forests are truly unique.

Come welcome the spring amongst the rare beauty of the foothills of Mt.Fuji and the festive atmosphere of the "Fujizakara" and azalea festival.

Motosu Nobilities Parade (May 17)

Motosu Nobilities Parade is a traditional festival which has been held for 300 years. It is held on May 17th. Motosu Nobilities Parade dates back to the Edo era. The festival celebrates the history of the local historical figure Hitoyanosuke Watanabe. He was in charge of gaurding the border "Motosu Sekisho Gate" for Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa. The celebration brings one back to the atmoshphere of the Edo-era.

Mt.Fuji Flower Festival (4 / 23 ~ 5 / 29 * dependant on bloom date of flowers)

The Mt.Fuji flower festival will be held at the resort town of Motosuko lake.  Come and view the brilliant radiance of over 800,000 flowers planted with the motif decoration of Mt.Fuji and enjoy festival treats.

Saiko Road Race ( June 19th - 6/19)

The annual Saiko Road Race is held at the beautiful blue Lake of Saiko near Mt.Fuji. The area is surrounded by the green mountains and cool breezes of the early summer. Try to beat your personal best time or just run for health and fun, while enjoying the view of Mt.Fuji. Why not come with your friends and family to enjoy Saiko Road Race.

1)Enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake Saiko area while running around Lake Saiko at your own pace. There are courses for the beginner and the advanced runner.

2)Proffesional support:
There is much support to help you.
There are distance indications every 1km and water stations evry 2.5km. You can challenge the 20km course after finishing the family course(3km)if you like.

3)extras
A lottery will be held. You have a chance to win many prizes. There are also many stands where you can buy food and sporting goods.

Fujikawaguchiko Herb Festival( June 17 ~ July 10)

The Fujikawaguchiko Herb Festival is one of the biggest events of the year. It is held in Yagizaki Park & Oishi Park every year. It is most famous for the symbol of the festival: its lavish and abundant lavendar beds. In addition to the usual attractions of flowers there are also abundant herbs, crafts, teas and treats, and some special events.
The upper map is for Yagisaki Park and the lower for Oike Park (in Japanese)

※please note that there will not be the nightly light up of the lavendar beds in order to save electricity in wake of the recent disaster in Japan.

Lake Saiko's Fireworks Festival ( 8 / 2 )

A festival of Ryūgū(dragon king) shrine to celebrate the goddess of water, Toyotamahimenomikoto. The illumination of Japanese floating lanterns and the wonderful fireworks weave together to turn the lakeside into an fantasy world.

Lake Kawaguchiko's "Kojōsai" summer festival ( 8 / 5 )

The annual Lake Kawaguchiko Festival will be held on August 5th this year.
Detailed information will be posted soon.
Fireworks are cancelled for August the 4th, but will be held as usual on August 5th.。

Fresh Corn Festival and Farmers Market ( 8/11 ~ 8/14)

There will be many local produce and goods for sale: from fresh fruit to tomatoes and cucumbers, and various kinds of fresh corn.

Mt.Tenjo Hydrangea Flowers (From mid July ~ end of August)

Hydrangea bloom in various colors from white, to blue to purple, in a lovely balbous shape. In Japan the hydrangeaa is the flower born of the rainy season and enjoyed throughout the height of summer. Enjoy hiking up Mt. Tenjo amongst thousands of blooming hydrangeas in full color.

Fuji Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Walk (October 15 / 16)

Fuji Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Walk is the official walking event of The Japanese Marching League This event runs for 2 days, with over 4000 participants.
